Mfalme is Swahili for "king" and Malkia is Swahili for "queen", fitting names for this pair of little 3D cross stitched king and queen of beasts. Their coats are fully cross stitched and his mane and their tail tips are also made of embroidery floss applied with a turkey work stitch. They is prepared to stalk their way into your home and heart, and to show off your stitching skills.

Most lion dolls are in one way or another inaccurate.  I have tried to solve that problem with these little "big cats".  Their markings and eyes are what you will see on actual lions. And what feline would be complete without paw pads? Plus if desired, you can make their tails poseable. Who says that cross stitch is only good for flat things?  Now you can stitch dolls using cross stitch for the details.

3D cross stitch isn't as difficult as you may think. It is stitched flat, like a normal piece but as a bunch of small pieces. This animal is stitched as 19 pieces which are then cut out and hand sewn together.  Full assembly directions with illustrations are included.

The pattern was hand designed by a professional artist/crafts person. Finished size of each is approximately 8" tall x 11" long from nose tip to back of tail when worked on 14 count fabric.  They are each composed of 13 colors.

Design contains some fractional stitches and backstitches, appropriate for an intermediate stitcher. Pattern may be worked on different count fabric which will result in a different sized finished product.
