I love watching this little furry acrobats as they leap through the trees. I also enjoy their antics around the feeders. So I simply had to make a 3D one in cross stitch. And he is life size!

I like accuracy in plush animals and have made the markings and eyes like that of real gray squirrels. To make his coat look more life like, I used blended colors (three colors stitched together), but he can be stitched using solid colors. Why use cross stitch?  Because cross stitch allows me to make tiny details that would be difficult to do by another method. And to give his tail the proper fuzzy appearance, I used a stitch called "turkey work", instead of cross stitch. The tail is also poseable. Who says that cross stitch is only good for flat things?  Now you can stitch a doll using cross stitch for the details.

The animal is stitched as 14 pieces which are then cut out and sewn together.  Full assembly directions with illustrations are included. Instructions on how to sew "turkey work" is also included.

This pattern was hand designed by a professional artist/crafts person
Finished size is approximately 6.5" tall x 8" wide from nose tip to tail tip when worked on 14 count fabric.  The image is composed of 11 colors.
